Overview

Solo and small law practices are in some ways at higher risk of suffering a catastrophic cybersecurity incident. With limited budgets and an assumption that “my IT vendor handles it,” they’re usually easy prey. Whether it’s ABA Ethical Rules, privacy laws or contractual obligations to your clients, there are consequences for assuming “IT will handle it” (it’s not their job and they don’t have the resources).

Talar Herculian Coursey, Esq.

Talar Herculian Coursey is a lawyer by day and a children’s book author by night (more like mornings). Talar is General Counsel, VP of Human Resources and VP of ComplyAuto Esquire, a privacy and cybersecurity Saas company serving law firms. Before joining ComplyAuto in 2023, Talar served as General Counsel for Vista Ford Lincoln dealerships for twelve years. And, before going in-house, she was a file clerk, associate and partner at the national labor and employment law firm, Fisher Phillips LLP. Talar is a co-author of the anthologies #Networked: How 20 Women Lawyers Overcame the Confines of COVID-19 Social Distancing to Create Connections, Cultivate Community, & Build Businesses in the Midst of a Global Pandemic and Women In Law: Discovering the True Meaning of Success. Talar’s children’s books are Ralphy’s Rules for Living the Good Life and Ralphy’s Rules for Feelings, which aim to simplify and teach self development tools to the littles. Net proceeds are donated to the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief (SOAR). Talar has served as the President of the Salt Lake City Chapter for SOAR since 2015. She runs the Salt Lake City Half Marathon every year to raise money for SOAR in memory of her father.
