Overview

This program explores and re-enforces the foundations and techniques for successful cross examination of lay, expert, and pro se witnesses from preparation through execution as a part of the theatre of trial before juries and judges. Focusing on the attorney’s personal and professional preparation as an actor playing a part in the drama of trial, the course encompasses cross examination strategies for improvised and planned interrogations. It draws on the experiences of a lifetime in court and the triumphs and tribulations of colleagues and mentors, examining the ultimately improvisational nature of the courtroom’s dynamics. The course concludes with an assessment of the ethical rules and guidelines of practice for remaining a competent and zealous advocate in the age of electronic litigation.

Recorded in August 2024.
