Gregory Cowhey ASA, CBA
Mr. Cowhey is a Partner at RSM US LLP, resident in the Philadelphia office, and manages the Financial Forensics & Valuation Services Practice in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is responsible for managing engagements in which McGladrey professionals provide value consulting, intangible asset appraisal, financial accounting impairment and other testing analysis, economic damage assessment, forensic accounting and litigation support services. Mr. Cowhey’s expertise includes forensic accounting; financial investigations; valuation of businesses and assets in equitable distribution; establishing income determination for support purposes; and expert witness and litigation support. He has been active in the appraisal, economic analysis and litigation support field since 1983. Mr. Cowhey has qualified as an expert witness on business and intangible asset valuations, economic damages analyses, income and alimony calculations, finance, accounting, compensation and related matters. He has provided expert testimony in trials in U.S. Federal Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Court and more than 10 state courts around the country. Mr. Cowhey has frequently been appointed by special masters and judges to serve as the court’s expert in business and intangible asset valuation disputes in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. He has written articles and is a frequent speaker to professional, trade and business organizations and management of public and private companies on accounting, finance, business and intangible asset valuation, merger and acquisition transaction issues, alimony/support issues and related matters. Mr. Cowhey has been a lecturer of the American Society of Appraisers Principles of Business Valuation courses, has taught the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants business valuation accreditation series, and has lectured to numerous other professional groups, including the American Bar Association, the American Academy of Matrimonial Attorneys, the American Legal Institute, the American Trial Lawyers Association and others. He received his B.S. in Finance and Marketing and an MBA in Accounting and Finance from LaSalle University. Mr. Cowhey’s professional licenses and memberships include the American Society of Appraisers, the Institute of Certified Business Appraisers, the Association of Forensic Economics, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
J. Helvy Esq.
Mr. Helvy is chair of the Family Law Practice Group at McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC. He has been practicing domestic and family law since his admission to the Bar in 1988. Mr. Helvy is a past chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section. He has chaired the Legislative, Membership, Program and Specialization Committees of the PBA Family Law Section and has testified before the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee regarding pending family law legislation. Mr. Helvy is a member of the Central Pennsylvania Collaborative Professionals, and the Bar Associations of Dauphin, Cumberland and Lancaster Counties. He serves on the Board of Directors for PA FSA. He has been included in the Woodward/White, Inc. publication, The Best Lawyers in America, Family Law Section, each year since 2007 and the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list each year since 2008. Mr. Helvy was named as the Central Pennsylvania Family Lawyer of the Year for 2013, 2016 and again for 2020 in The Best Lawyers of America. He has been selected by his peers for recognition as a Local Legal Leader by Harrisburg Magazine and has been recognized as one of the Select Lawyers by Susquehanna Style Magazine. Mr. Helvy is a frequent speaker on behalf of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA), Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) and county bar associations on the topics of divorce, custody and support. He is also a course planner of the PBI Family Law Institute, an annual program designed to help family law attorneys stay abreast of the latest developments and trends in the law, held in Philadelphia and simulcast throughout the state. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Middle District of PA and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit and Federal Circuit. Mr. Helvy is a graduate of Dickinson School of Law, J.D, and West Chester University, B.A., cum laude.
Elizabeth J. Billies, Esq.
Ms. Billies is a Partner at Dischell, Bartle & Dooley, PC, in Lansdale and concentrates her practices in all aspects of family law. Prior to her current position, she was law clerk for the Honorable Susan Devlin Scott of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas, the former President Judge and Administrative Judge of Family Court. She has contributed articles to the Pennsylvania Family Lawyer and has presented on various family law topics at the Pennsylvania Bar Association, PBI as well as on family law related podcasts and webinars. You can also find her writings on her blog, The Divorce Lawyer Life. Ms. Billies received her B.A. from University of Wisconsin-Madison and her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law.
Mark B. Dischell, Esq.
Mr. Dischell is currently President of the firm of Dischell, Bartle & Dooley in Lansdale. He is past President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Mr. Dischell is past Chair of the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, having served on its Executive Council and as chair of various committees. He was a Master of the Doris Jonas Freed Inn of Court, a past chair of the Family Law Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association and a director of that association. Mr. Dischell is a member of the Joint State Government Commission’s Advisory Committee, Task Force on Domestic Relations Law and formerly a member of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Domestic Relations Procedural Rules Committee. He is a frequent lecturer, author, moderator and course planner for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and other organizations. Since 2005, Mr. Dischell has been named one of the Top Ten Leaders of Greater Philadelphia Matrimonial & Divorce Law, as well as a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.” He has also been selected as one of the Top 100 Pennsylvania Lawyers. Mr. Dischell is listed in The Best Lawyers of America from 1998 to the present, and was named by that publication as Family Law Lawyer of the Year for the Philadelphia Region in 2012. In 2016, he received the Eric D. Turner Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section. The award is given annually to a recipient for mentoring and dedication to the profession. Mr. Dischell received his B.A. from Dickinson College and his J.D. from Villanova University.
Mark R. Ashton, Esq.
Mr. Ashton retired in 2022 after 32 years as a partner at Fox Rothschild LLP’s Exton office . He concentrated his practice in the area of civil litigation with a particular emphasis on family law. A 1980 graduate of the John Marshall Law School, Mr. Ashton returned to Pennsylvania and served as judicial clerk to the Honorable Mason Avrigian in Montgomery County. Following his clerkship, he was associated with Abrahams and Lowenstein, and chaired the Domestic Relations Group at Riley, Riper, Hollin & Colagreco. Mr. Ashton has served as a director of the Montgomery Bar Association and chaired the Domestic Relations Section of the Chester County Bar Association. Mr. Ashton is an active member and the immediate past chairman of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section. Mr. Ashton is a former president of the Doris J. Freed American Inn of Court, a group of 60 attorneys in the Philadelphia metropolitan area who concentrate their practices in family law.
