Cynthia Haines Esq.
Ms. Haines is a partner at the Harrisburg firm of Post and Schell, P.C, where she co-chairs the Information, Privacy and Security Practice Group. She counsels and represents clients with legal issues and strategic counseling involving technology, healthcare information systems, data privacy matters, healthcare regulatory compliance, e-commerce, Medicare/Medicaid and commercial payor contracting, and HIPAA security and privacy compliance. She earned her B.A. from the Muhlenberg University and her J.D. from the Widener School of Law.
Gerald Halt Jr., Esq.
Mr. Halt is a shareholder with Volpe and Koenig, P.C., in Philadelphia. He focuses his practice in securing, licensing and enforcing intellectual property rights. Mr. Halt is especially active in the areas of litigation, inter parte matters, administrative proceedings, licensing of trademarks and technology, validity opinions and due diligence reviews. He focuses in the areas of electrical, electronic and computer software technologies, including optical and wireless communication systems, computers, computer software, communication system protocols, microwave systems and components, optical barcode scanners, fiber optic systems and semiconductor devices. Mr. Halt is frequently counsel in foreign intellectual property matters and is well versed in the international regulations of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). He has been a presenter at PCT seminars for legal professionals, intellectual property owners and portfolio managers. Mr. Halt is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He is also admitted to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Halt received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law. He was named a 2011 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.
Victor Hsu MD
Victor Hsu, M.D., graduated from University of Pennsylvania and worked in the financial industry for several years. He then felt like he wanted to do more to help society, enrolling and graduating from Temple University School of Medicine where he was selected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He later completed both his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Temple University Hospital Dr. Hsu completed his specialized fellowship training in spinal surgery at the San Diego Center for Spinal Disorders in La Jolla, California. Dr. Hsu is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in all facets of spine disorders. His special interests in spine surgery include degenerative conditions, adult and pediatric deformity and complex reconstruction, minimally invasive surgery, and robotic spine surgery. He has published chapters in various textbooks, presented his research at several national meetings, and has participated in several FDA trials. He also serves as the official team physician for Germantown Academy. More importantly, Dr. Hsu is committed to treating his patients with the personal and expert care they deserve. He works with a team of other spine experts, including surgeons, nurses, physical therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and pain management physicians who bring their diverse breadth of knowledge to each individual patient, resulting in a personalized treatment plan. Dr. Hsu provides optimal care for his patients with spinal disorders that may affect the shape, alignment, or function of the spine, helping them to restore their spine health and to improve their quality of life.
Robert Swain Ph.D.
Rob Swain launched RESound Clinical Consulting in 2015 to provide high-quality customized consulting services to the medical device industry. Raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Swain enrolled at Virginia Tech in 1981 and fell in love with the interdisciplinary study of Engineering Science and Mechanics – the physics of engineering. In 1985 he graduated magna cum laude with minors in math and philosophy and began his Master’s degree studying the mechanics of composite materials. He received a Presidential Fellowship for his doctoral education and graduated with his PhD in Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Tech in 1992. He was hired by Smith + Nephew in Memphis, Tennessee, supporting their composite hip program. He found his passion and calling in the medical device industry and has never looked back. In 1998, Dr. Swain, his wife Susan, and their two children relocated from Memphis to Bedford, New Hampshire for Rob to pursue a new position with a start-up medical company in Massachusetts. The Swains fell in love with New England and have made New Hampshire their home ever since. In his three decades in the medical device industry, Dr. Swain has worked for start-ups and large Fortune 500 companies establishing a rich and diverse experience base in cardiovascular, cancer therapeutics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, wound care, otolaryngology, critical care, as well as other disciplines.
Samuel Hodge Jr., Esq.
Professor Hodge is a Professor Emeritus at Temple University where he teaches law, anatomy, and forensic courses. He is also a member of the Dispute Resolution Institute in Philadelphia where he serves as a mediator and neutral arbitrator. Professor Hodge has been named one of the most popular continuing legal education instructors in the country and lectures frequently to attorneys, judges, physicians. and governmental agencies on medical/legal issues and artificial intelligence. He has received multiple teaching awards including being named a Temple University Great Teacher and his Anatomy for Lawyers course was the recipient of the ACLEA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Continuing Legal Education. Professor Hodge is one of the most published authors in the United States on medical/legal matters. His book, Anatomy, and Physiology for Legal Professionals was published by PBI in 2020, and he is also the co-author of the books: Traumatic Head and Brain Injuries, ABA; The Forensic Autopsy, ABA; The Spine, ABA; Clinical Anatomy for Attorneys, ABA; and author of the award-winning book, Anatomy for Litigators, ALI-ABA. He also wrote Law in American Society, McGraw Hill; Law for the Business Enterprise, McGraw Hill; and Thermography and Personal Injury Litigation, Wiley Law. In addition to his authoring multiple books, he has published more than 175 articles in medical and legal journals, in excess of 500 non-referred publications, and is a member of the Editorial Board for The Practical Lawyer. Professor Hodge is a graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law and the Graduate Division of the Law School. He has received mediation training at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. In addition to writing multiple law review articles on the various applications of artificial intelligence from its use in medicine to the legal profession, he testified before the Pennsylvania Legislature’s Democratic Caucus studying the use of artificial intelligence in a business setting. He is also on the committee making recommendations to the Pennsylvania legislature on proposed legislation on police body worn cameras.
