This two-hour CLE will present a comprehensive review of the dysfunctional state of the global supply chain in 2023. It will begin by looking back to early 2020 when the COVID pandemic first exposed weaknesses in the supply chain and explain why the supply chain was already fatally flawed before the onset of COVID. Next, the panelists will describe what has occurred since 2020 and specific factors which have weakened and will continue to weaken the global supply chain. These factors will be presented as “MaxTrends™.” For example, while the global supply chain breakdown had roots going back many years, political events like the war in Ukraine have intensified those failures, sending ripples across the entire global economy. The bottom line is that the global supply chain which was once based on “just-in-time” manufacturing is no longer viable. The supply chain as we once knew it will never return to “normal”. Finally, the course will recommend specific steps companies need to take in order to lessen the impact of supply chain disruptions on their businesses.
