Joanne Kleiner Esq.
Ms. Kleiner is the founder of Joanne E. Kleiner & Associates in Jenkintown. While she concentrates her practice in family law, collaborative family law, and mediation, she has been an advocate for people with disabilities since the birth of her daughter, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. Ms. Kleiner is a member of the Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Bar Associations. She has been the chair of the Abington Township Human Relations Commission since 2012. Ms. Kleiner received her J.D. from Temple University and her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds Mediation Certifications from Montgomery County Mediation Center and Good Shepherd Mediation. Ms. Kleiner’s daughter – at age 3 – was the lead plaintiff in the first class action suit in Philadelphia brought under the then newly-enacted ADA.
Jane Maughan Esq.
Mrs. Maughan is sole shareholder of Jane Maughan, P.C. in Stroudsburg, where her practice is concentrated in mediation and family law. Mrs. Maughan received her B.A. in 1977 from West Chester University and her J.D. in 1981 from Villanova University Law School. She served as a full-time prosecutor in Lehigh County from 1981-85 and as First Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County from 1986-89. Formerly a partner with Cramer Swetz McManus & Roach in Stroudsburg, Mrs. Maughan established her sole practice at Jane Maughan, P.C. in Stroudsburg in 2001. Mrs. Maughan is a Past President and Board Member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Also a member of the Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Mrs. Maughan is a frequent lecturer and course planner on real estate, legal ethics and family law matters.
Jennifer Knighton Esq.
Ms. Knighton joined the Law Office of Christina M. DeMatteo, LLC, in 2019. She is a member of the Family Law Section, the Civility in the Profession Committee, and the Quality of Life/Balance Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and a member of the Family Law Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association. Ms. Knighton earned her law degree from the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, magna cum laude, in 2011, where she was a lead editor of the Drexel Law Review. She earned her B.S. in Psychology, summa cum laude, in 1997, and her M.S. in Psychology in 2001, both from Saint Joseph’s University. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Knighton was employed in the pharmaceutical and behavioral research fields.
Clyde Waite (Ret.)
Clyde W. Waite reached mandatory retirement age Dec. 31, 2022 and is now retired as a Senior Judge in Bucks County, PA who presided over a broad range of cases including Family Court, Criminal Court, Juvenile Court, Orphan’s Court, Civil Court involving the full range of civil disputes. He has served on the Bucks County Court since his election to the Court in 2003 as the first and still the only African American to serve on the Bucks County Court. He earned his B.A. in 1968 from Howard University in Washington, DC and his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1971. Thereafter, he entered private practice with the Bucks County Legal Aid Society; thereafter in the Bucks County Public Defender’s Office then clerked for Bucks County Judge Harriet M. Mims, who was the first woman to serve on the Bucks County Court. He also clerked for Edmund V. Ludwig of the Bucks County Court. Both judges handled the full range of civil and criminal court matters. He was a partner at Sokolove, Stief, Waite, Gross, Sagoskin and Gilman. He served as Solicitor for Bristol Twp, Bucks County; Solicitor for Bucks County and Bristol Township Industrial Development Authorities. He was appointed by Governor Robert P. Casey to the State Planning Board/Futures Council to advise the Governor on policy matters. Served on the PA Supreme Court’s Judicial Ethics Committee and the Civil Rules Committee as well as the PA Superior Court’s Pro Se Committee. He has served on the Board of Dir. Bucks County Bar Assoc. He has served as president and general member on many community-based boards and committees over his fifty years of practice in Bucks County. He currently serves on the Board of the PA Supreme Court’s CLE Board.
Thomas G. Wilkinson Jr., Esq.
Mr. Wilkinson is a member of Cozen O’Connor in its Philadelphia office, where he concentrates his practice in commercial and appellate litigation in federal and state courts and in lawyer professional responsibility and liability matters. He is also a leader of the firm’s Legal Profession Services practice group. He is a past President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) and Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI). He is a former PBA Zone Governor, a member of the PBA House of Delegates, and is active in various other PBA and Philadelphia Bar Association committees and sections. Mr. Wilkinson is a past Chair of the PBA Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee, and is a past Chair of the Civil Litigation Section. He is a Co-Chair of the PBA Civility in the Profession Committee. Mr. Wilkinson is the co-editor of the Pennsylvania Ethics Handbook (5th ed. 2017-PBI Press) and has for many years edited ethics opinion summaries for publication in The Pennsylvania Lawyer. He was a Lecturer in Law on professional responsibility at Villanova Law School and has written and presented extensively on various civil litigation and professional responsibility topics. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association (ABA) and previously served as the Pennsylvania State Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates. He is active in the ABA Section of Litigation and its Ethics and Professionalism Committee. He has served as a member and Board liaison to the ABA Standing Committee on Professionalism, and the Profession, Public Service and Diversity Committee. He is a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL). He also has served in various leadership capacities with the Villanova Law J. Willard O’Brien American Inn of Court. He is frequently retained as counsel to lawyers and law firms on risk management and disciplinary matters and as an expert witness in lawyer professional liability actions. He is a contributing author for the book entitled The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania: Life and Law in the Commonwealth 1684-2017. Mr. Wilkinson is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, and various other federal courts. He received his law degree from Villanova University School of Law where he was managing editor of the Law Review, and thereafter served as a law clerk in the U.S. District for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Jennifer A. Brandt, Esq.
Ms. Brandt is a Shareholder and Chair of the Family Law Group of Cozen O’Connor, a national law firm with over 800 attorneys. She focuses her practice on divorce, custody and support matters both in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Ms. Brandt also assists parties in adoptions and in matters concerning incapacitated persons and handles family law mediations and arbitrations. She regularly appears as a legal commentator on national television outlets such as Court TV, CNN, ABC, MSNBC and the Fox News Channel and she is a regular contributor on the regional channel, Fox 29. Ms. Brandt has also appeared locally on television and radio including KYW-TV (CBS 3), WPVI (6 ABC), WCAU (NBC 10 Television) and KYW News Radio. She has contributed to numerous publications including the Philadelphia Inquirer, the National Law Journal, Forbes.com, the Huffington Post and Main Line Today magazine. She is the author of the blog Family Law Focus (www.familylawfocusblog.com) and is a monthly contributor to the Avvo-Martindale blog. Ms. Brandt has been named by Philadelphia Magazine as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer and one of American Lawyer Media’s Lawyers on the Fast Track as well as one of the Ten Leaders in Matrimonial and Divorce Law, age 45 and under. Ms. Brandt is a member of the Family Law Sections of the American, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Camden County Bar Associations. She is the Secretary of the ABA Family Law Section and a member of the Finance Committee. She is also the ABA FLS liaison to the ABA Standing Committee on Professionalism. Ms. Brandt is also a co-chair of the Children’s Rights Committee of the PBA. She is a frequent speaker on the topic of family law and practice management for national and local organizations. Ms. Brandt received her B.A., with highest honors, from Rutgers College in 1991 and earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1994, where she was a Senior Editor of the Journal of International Business law and an Arthur Littleton Fellowship Instructor in legal research and writing.
Victoria L. White, Esq.
Ms. White is currently Ethics Counsel to the Pennsylvania Bar Association. As Ethics Counsel, Ms. White responds to Ethics Hotline inquiries from PBA members who have questions concerning the impact of the provisions of the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct upon their own prospective conduct. Ms. White also assists the PBA’s Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee, which issues written ethics opinions and reviews and recommends proposals for changes to the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct. She also serves as the Associate Editor of the Pennsylvania Ethics Handbook, a useful guide to the professional responsibility obligations of practicing Pennsylvania lawyers. In addition to staffing the Ethics Committee, Ms. White is the staff liaison to the PBA Civility in the Profession Committee. Prior to joining the PBA, Ms. White served as Assistant Counsel for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission, practiced for several years in the private sector, and was a staff attorney in the solicitor’s office for a local municipality. Ms. White received her B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College and her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law.
Kristine L. Calalang, Esq.
Kristine L. Calalang has dedicated her law practice to family law matters since 2004. She provides her clients with strong advocacy, compassion, and empathy. Ms. Calalang is passionate about serving in leadership positions to help elevate the legal profession, promote fellowship in the legal community, and support philanthropic endeavors. She has strong leadership roles in the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA), serving as a Zone 1 member of the House of Delegates, Co-Chair of the Legal Academics Committee, and the Diversity Liaison and Co-Chair of the Diversity Task Force of the Family Law Section. Additionally, Ms. Calalang is the Diversity Liaison for the PBA Minority Bar Committee and the Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee of the Women in the Profession Commission. She is also in leadership in the Philadelphia Bar Association, having served as a Member of the Board of Governors and 2022 Board Chair, Co-Chair of the Women in the Profession Committee, and Co-Chair of the Solo and Small Firm Management Committee. Ms. Calalang also served as the 2019 Chair of the Family Law Section and continues to serve as a member of the Section’s Executive Committee, Co-Chair of the Custody Committee, Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee, and founding member of the Diversity Inclusion Scholarship Committee. Ms. Calalang further serves as a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Judicial Selection and Retention Commission and is an active member of Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law’s alumni boards. She often plans and presents programs for the PBA, Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Philadelphia Bar Association, and other legal groups.
