About

Avoiding Legal Malpractice: May qualify for a discount on your CNA LPL insurance

This program features information on a variety of issues that have been identified as common areas where attorneys can be exposed to liability or malpractice claims and focuses on steps we can all take to avoid, or at least mitigate, potential professional liability claims. The program will provide the perspective of a risk manager, addressing some of the scenarios attorneys may encounter in their daily work. Engagement letters, cybersecurity and potential issues that can lead to disciplinary complaints are among the chief topics. Attend and get tips on steps you can take to cover your practice and be prepared if a claim is asserted against you or your firm. This program is the online version of the Avoiding Legal Malpractice program that has been provided to attorneys at county events in the Spring and Fall of each year by the PBA Professional Liability Committee.

Attorneys who are insured through the Pennsylvania Bar Association Insurance Program, advised and administered by USI Affinity, have the ability to earn up to a 7.5% discount on their malpractice insurance. The 7.5% credit will be pro-rated based on the number of attorneys in the firm who attend the seminar. The discount does not apply to part-time policies. Questions on your LPL insurance should be directed to USI Affinity at 610-537-1368.

The Avoiding Legal Malpractice Seminar, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Insurance Program and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for 2 hours of ethics, professionalism, or substance abuse CLE credit.

Recorded in November 2023.
